The podcast explores the recent writing and poetry initiatives over the last year and a half at Elmcrest. We will hear about a visit from Georgia Heard, a writng expert, and how she has influenced our teaching this year. The podcast ends with teachers K - 6 sharing successful poetry lessons and activities they have completed with their students. Their students will read some of the wonderful poems they produced from these lessons.

Mr. Cappelli and Mrs. Eallonardo host the final podcast of the 2007 – 08 school year. The podcast includes an interview of our new principal Mrs. Valentine by fifth grade students. The second half features Mrs. Durgey, Mr. Cappelli and Mrs. Valentine giving some background on the teachers’ writing support group and the building wide personal narrative initiative. Students from K – 6 end the podcast sharing some of their narratives.

The third podcast is hosted by Mr. Cappelli, a fifth grade teacher and Mrs. Eallonardo, our tech assistant. The program opens with an interview of Mrs. Huenniger, a teaching assistant, who explains how the Elmcrest school pledge originated. The teacher idea is a poetry unit by the fifth grade team of Mrs. Durgey, Mrs. Popoff and Mr. Cappelli. They give background on some of the reasons for starting the year with poetry and the techniques students learned. It ends with several students sharing their original poems.

It opens with an interview by fifth grade students of the principal Mr. Pendergast who is retiring after thirteen years at Elmcrest. The teacher idea is a Washington, DC social studies project that Mr. Cappelli does with his fifth graders and concludes with some of the students' thoughts on the project.

# EE Podcast 1 
This is the very first podcast from Elmcrest Elementary. It is hosted by Mr. Cappelli, a fifth grade teacher and Mrs. Eallonardo, our technology assistant. Two fifth graders give some background and history of Elmcrest. The teacher idea featured is a news show called Assignment the World that Mr. Cappelli incorporates into his social studies curriculum to keep his students informed on current events. Four fifth graders share their thoughts about the opinion question, Is there too much reality TV?
